Beaconsfield is the one with an entry charge, which reviews do note, but it offers something the galleries do not: a preserved former gold mine, per Wikipedia, and the 2006 rescue story as its centre. Thirty interactive displays take around 90 minutes, staff are described as friendly and knowledgeable, and kids leave with a sticker and a precious stone.
