Paid, and a full day: Sovereign Hill near Ballarat, where reviewers rate the Trooper show the must-see and suggest four to six hours. Scienceworks (Museums Victoria) in Spotswood needs advance bookings for the Lightning Room and planetarium, with the children's show recommended over the adult one.

For hands-on machinery, Aviation Museum Australia (HARS) relies on volunteer-led tours to get inside aircraft, Moorabbin Air Museum lets kids sit in open cockpits, and National Railway Museum in Port Adelaide runs miniature train rides. MoPA: Museum of Play and Art in Sandringham is the outlier: staffed, structured sessions for ages 1 to 7 with a two-hour limit.
